Student Debt Report Released

A new report shows how much student debt recent college graduates from around the country have.

The Project on Student Debt report was released this month.

Nationwide, it says seven in 10 college seniors who graduated in 2012 had student loan debt. The average student loan debt was $29,400.

In West Virginia, the report says the average student loan debt was a little more than $26,000. 

The report says about 54% of West Virginia's recent college graduates had student debt.

In Ohio, the report says the average student loan debt was more than $29,000. about 69% of recent college grads in Ohio have student debt.

In Kentucky, the report says the average student loan debt is $22,000, with about 62% of recent college grads with student debt.

The report is an initiative of The Institute for College Access & Success.
