Avengers Motorcycle Gang Members Arrested
{Charleston, West Virginia}...WV State Police were in the Harper Heights area of Raleigh County around 3:00 P.M. Wednesday afternoon conducing surveillance on members of the Avengers Motorcycle Gang. At some point during the surveillance, four of the gang members ended up getting behind the troopers vehicle and started making gestures like they had guns. One member, Thomas Speck, 34, of Lapier, Michigan, displayed a gun as he pulled alongside the troopers' vehicle. The officers sped ahead of the bikers and pulled onto the side of the road, got out of the vehicle and displayed their badges as the bikers drove by. As the gang members went by them, one of them turned around and fired a shot at the troopers. Speck was found at a nearby residence and charged with three counts of wanton endangerment, unlawful possession of a firearm, fleeing and being a fugitive from justice. Delmer Lee Cozart, 51, of Beckley, was charged as an accessory in the crime, wanton endangerment and unlawful possession of a firearm. Clyde Frank, 55, of Harper, West Virginia, was charged as an accessory, and with wanton endangerment. James Morris, 33, of Eckles, West Virginia, was charged as an accessory, wanton endangerment, unlawful possession of a concealed weapon and fleeing.
