Charleston Lawsuit Dismissed

{Charleston, West Virginia}...Charleston Police Officer Jerry Jones was killed by another officer's bullet in a September 12, 2009 shootout. Samantha Jones, the widow of Officer Jones, filed a lawsuit against the city of Charleston and officer Christopher Burford. Samantha Jones contended in the complaint that Burford exhibited "deliberate indifference" to police department policies and training and said the city failed to properly train and supervise officers. Samantha Jones' attorney had argued Jones' rights were violated in the shooting, but U.S. District Judge Joseph Goodwin disagreed and granted the city's motion to dismiss the suit.
