West Virginia State Police Scam Warning
{Charleston, West Virginia}...Sgt. Michael Baylous, spokesperson for the West Virginia State Police, says scammers are pretending to be from their organization, and they're asking for money through both email and telephone. Baylous says a woman from Parkersburg contacted him claiming she received an email, which appeared to be from state police, asking her to wire them $3,000 to post bond for her fiance who was allegedly being detained by immigrations and customs officials. Sgt. Baylous says he has gotten other complaints, but the West Virginia State Police is not, for any reason, going to request that you send or wire money to them.
