Dickens, a native of Bolt in Raleigh County , was hospitalized on Christmas
Day, less than a week after his 94th birthday Dec. 19. The birthday was
celebrated at the Opry during its Dec. 20 show.
The 4-foot-11 Dickens is a member of
the Country Music Hall of Fame and the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame. He
first began appearing on the Grand Ole Opry in 1948.
