More than 50 coal miners are being
laid off in McDowell

ArcelorMittal issued layoff notices
to 58 miners total at three mines in the Big Sandy Region identified as the
Concept, XMV and Extra Energy mines.
Company officials said market
conditions were to blame for the layoffs as the demand for coal continues to decline.
