Tomblin To Seek Federal Disaster Declaration
{Charleston, West Virginia}...Governor Earl Ray Tomblin said Wednesday that damage assessments are continuing in nine counties hit by severe storms and tornadoes. Tomblin says he plans to ask President Barack Obama to issue a federal disaster declaration after he learns which counties will qualify for federal aid. No deaths or serious injuries were reported from last week's storms, but the National Weather Service confirmed an EF3 tornado hit Wayne County and an EF-2 toppled a radio tower in Mingo County. Wednesday, Tomblin distributed hazard mitigation grants to Kanawha, Logan and Wyoming counties and the town of Clendenin.
