Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting, Names Released

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. -- A man has been charged in a deadly shooting in Rand.

According to a news release, Tremale Straughter is charged with killing Donovan Taylor, also known as Don Don. The murder happened near a house in the 5400-block of Midland Drive.

Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies say they were called to the scene about 4:30 a.m. Thursday, due to a report of loud music. While enroute, there was an updated call that gunshots were heard in that same area.

When deputies arrived they found a car crashed on Emory Avenue with Taylor's body inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Straughter had left the scene in a Dodge Magnum before deputies arrived. However, a couple of hours later investigators located Straughter along with his car along Route 60.

During the investigation, Kanawha County closed several schools in the area as a precaution. A couple of libraries in the area also decided to close until there was an arrest.

A possible motive in the case is not being released.
