Charleston Police are seeking help from the public in solving a brutal beating and home invasion on the West Side from earlier in the week.
A family member went to the residence and found the homeowner severely beaten and laying in a pool of blood, said detectives.
Detective Jarl Taylor said not a lot is known at this point in the investigation.
“We do feel that it is an isolated event. We don’t feel that neighbors should be in fear of anything like that, but currently detectives are still investigating this case to try to figure out exactly what happened,” said Taylor .
The 30-year-old male victim was transported to a Charleston hospital and is currently in the ICU.
“He does have a broken nose. I guess his orbital bones are fractured and he does have brain swelling,” said Taylor .
No arrests have been made in the case and that’s why they are asking the public for any information regarding the incident.
“Usually with victims they know, a majority of the time, who their invaders are,” said Taylor . “Very few cases they do not.”
Anyone with information regarding what happened at the residence is asked to call the Charleston Police Department at 304-348-6480.
