Man Sentenced for Brutal Bar Robbery

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- The man convicted of kidnapping, armed robbery and malicious wounding in the brutal robbery of a Huntington bar last year will spend the next 40-50 in prison before he is eligible for parole.

William Fykes, 43, of Flatwoods, Ky., was back in Cabell County Circuit Court Thursday for his sentencing in the January 1, 2012 robbery at Stonewall club. Fykes was convicted of the crime earlier this month

Judge Paul Ferrell sentenced Fykes to 20 years each on the three robbery convictions, life with mercy on two of the kidnapping convictions and 32 years on the other kidnapping count. That adds up to 92 years, plus the two life with mercy sentences to be served consecutively.

The two malicious wounding counts were reduced to battery and unlawful wounding.

The 6 month and the 1-5 year sentences on those counts are to be served concurrently according to court officials.
