Man killed by train

St. Albans Police Captain Jim Agee said a weekend tragedy in his town is another reminder about the danger of railroad tracks.
Kevin Moles, 48, was struck and killed by a locomotive while walking just east of the trestle behind the Gateway Shopping Plaza in St. Albans.
“It’s not a sidewalk,” said Agee. “That’s private property even though it’s wide open and rarely fenced in.   CSX posts their property pretty well with ‘no trespassing.’  It’s not a place for pedestrians.”
Moles was walking along the track Saturday night with two young girls.   Agee said it’s believed the children were family members, but not his children.  The girls managed to avoid being hit.
“The children moved out of the way of the train and the gentleman did not for whatever reason,” Agee said. “People sometimes panic and sometimes they freeze, a lot of things can happen when they see something like that.”
The children were not injured.
