Coal miners injured in separate accidents

Two Monongalia County miners are hospitalized following separate accidents at separate mines Tuesday night.
At CONSOL’s Loveridge Mine, a worker was hit in the head with a slate bar when a car derailed at the Miracle Run end of the underground mine. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. The miner was knocked unconscious and had to be flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital. He is reportedly in critical condition.
Another miner suffered burns when he was electrocuted at the Prime No. 1 underground mine just outside of Star City. That incident happened shortly after 10 p.m. He was taken by ambulance to Ruby Memorial Hospital, but was conscious and alert.
The identities of the miners have not been released.
