Two Monongalia County miners are hospitalized following separate accidents at separate mines Tuesday night.
At CONSOL’s Loveridge Mine, a worker was hit in the head with a slate bar when a car derailed at the Miracle Run end of the underground mine. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. The miner was knocked unconscious and had to be flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital . He is reportedly in critical condition.
Another miner suffered burns when he was electrocuted at the Prime No. 1 underground mine just outside of Star City . That incident happened shortly after 10 p.m. He was taken by ambulance to Ruby Memorial Hospital , but was conscious and alert.
The identities of the miners have not been released.
