CONSOL says injured miner dies

A miner at CONSOL Energy’s Loveridge Mine who was critically injured earlier this week has died, company officials said.
Glen Clutter, 51, of Baxter, was hurt when a slate bar hit him in the head when a car derailed at the Miracle Run end of the underground mine near Fairview in Monongalia County.
Officials said the incident happened at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.  Clutter was knocked unconscious and had to be flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Clutter later died of his injuries.
Clutter previously worked at the Blacksville No. 1 mine in Monongalia County.  He worked at Loveridge for the past ten years.
CONSOL said it will stop operations at the mine until 4 p.m. out of respect for Clutter and his family.
