Federal prisoner in Welch pleads guilty to weapons possession

An inmate at a federal prison in Welch has pleaded guilty to a weapons possession charge.
U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin says 43-year-old Bryan Kent faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced in federal court in Bluefield.

Kent is an inmate at the medium-security Federal Correctional Institution McDowell. Goodwin says Kent admitted possessing a homemade knife on Sept. 1.
