Worker Killed in Accident at Mine in Raleigh County

RALEIGH COUNTY, W.Va. -- A worker is dead after an accident at a mine in Raleigh County.

The accident happened about 9:20 p.m. Thursday at Affinity Mine, which is owned by Pocahontas Coal Company.

MSHA says the worker was using a scoop bucket to put trash on a hoist.

The hoist moved, picked up the scoop bucket and crushed the worker.

The name of the worker has not been released.
