Educators and law enforcement coming together for school safety

Educators and law enforcement officers will be coming together in the Capitol City Wednesday to talk about school safety.
U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin and his office is hosting the Summit on West Virginia Safe Schools at the Culture Center in Charleston.
The goal of the event is to develop a written set of school safety recommendations for the education and law enforcement communities. It’s about getting educators and law enforcement on the same page.
Retired Lt. Col. Dave Grossman along with State Superintendent Dr. James Phares is scheduled to speak at the event. Grossman is an expert on the causes of mass shootings and school violence.
The event will also include three panels of experts from across West Virginia.
The event, which comes less than two months after the tragic Newtown, Connecticut shooting that left 26 kids and adults dead, will begin at 9 a.m.
