Woman dead in Wayne County crash

State Troopers in Wayne County say Friday’s winter storm contributed to a fatal traffic accident.

Trooopers say Marie Travis, 32, of Lavalette, was killed after losing control of her car on Beach Fork Road, which was covered with black ice.

The car slid went off the road and into a nearby creek.

Troopers say the location of the crash and the high water made rescue efforts difficult.
