{Dunbar, West Virginia}...Police are investigating following a shooting that took place inside an apartment on Smoot Avenue near Shawnee Park in West Dunbar around 11:45 A.M. Thursday morning. Police say 21 year old Joe Green was taken into surgery around 1:30 P.M. at CAMC General Hospital after being shot in the back multiple times. Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers say at least seven shots were fired. Police charged Franklin D. Beverly, 31, of Smith Avenue in Dunbar, with malicious wounding. Capt. B.C. Robbins with the Kanawha County Sheriff's Dept. says the apartment complex, as a whole, has historically been a hotbed for drug trafficking. Several schools were placed on lockdown for about one hour, including Ben Franklin Vocational Center, Dunbar Primary, Dunbar Intermediate and Dunbar Middle. The lockdown was lifted at 12:50 P.M.Thursday, October 11, 2012
