Special Metals Announces Layoffs

{Huntington, West Virginia}...Dwight Weber, a spokesman for Precision Castparts, the parent company for Special Metals, says 74 hourly employees have been laid off from the Huntington Special Metals plant, and seven employees were laid off from the Special Metals plant in Burnaugh, Kentucky, most from the production and maintenance departments. After the layoffs, 542 hourly employees work at the Huntington plant and 125 in Burnaugh. In August, workers at Special Metals in Huntington voted 337 to 144 in favor of a new contract that expires August 7, 2015.
