Governor Tomblin selects new state BOE member

Berkeley County resident Tina H. Combs has been appointed to the state Board of Education.
Governor Earl Ray Tomblin announced the appointment Friday.
Combs will take the place of former board member Jenny Phillips who resigned last month over the firing of former state schools superintendent Jorea Marple. Priscilla Haden resigned at that time as well.
Both Phillips and Haden voted against the firing.
Combs is a Mountain State University graduate and has served as president and CEO of the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce.
She also in the past had been chairwoman of Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Board of Governors and served as treasurer of the Berkeley County Business Education Partnership.
