Huntington man indicted in cinderblock death incident

A Huntington man involved in a drunken fight that resulted in a death is now facing an involuntary manslaughter charge.
According to court documents, a Cabell County Grand Jury indicted Shane McCaffrey, 25, on one count of voluntary manslaughter in the death of Howard LeMaster.
Back in August, McCaffrey and his brother got into a fight outside a home along Adams Avenue in Huntington. During the fight, LeMaster tried to break up and was hit in the head by a cinderblock that was allegedly thrown by McCaffrey.
LeMaster died from his injuries a few days later in the hospital.
McCaffrey was arrested following the incident and initially charged with malicious wounding. The charge was increased following LeMaster’s death. But the grand jury only indicted McCaffrey on involuntary manslaughter.
He is scheduled to be arraigned on the charge within the next ten days.
