A masked gunman robbed the Wesbanco branch in Westover Thursday and is still on the loose, Westover police said.
The robbery was reported shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday at the bank on Commerce Drive , just off Fairmont Road .
Police from Westover and Granville, as well as State Police Troopers and Monongalia County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene.
“Just shortly before 1 p.m., a male subject, white, about 5’9″ or 5’10″ with dark clothing and a dark hoodie walked into the Wesbanco,” Lt. Roy Harper with the Westover Police Department said. “He had a mask, displayed a handgun and fled with an undetermined amount of cash.”
Officials met inside the bank after the robbery and a sign was posted on the bank’s door that read “closed due to emergency.”
Harper says no one was hurt in the incident. He says they are working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
