Former PSD Employee Indicted on 22 Counts of Embezzlment

WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. -- A former employee of the Northern Wayne Public Service District has been indicted on 22 counts of embezzlement.

A grand jury in Wayne County handed down the indictment against Tiffani Petry, 28, of Kenova, last week.

Petry is charged with embezzling more than $37,000 from the organization between July 5, 2011 and July 13, 2012.

West Virginia State Police said, in a criminal complaint filed in Wayne County Magistrate Court in October, when she was taking deposits to the bank, Petry would subtract the amount of cash that was supposed to be deposited, fill out another slip, and keep the cash for herself.

The complaint also indicates that Petry confessed to the crime.

She was arraigned on the charges last Friday Her bond was set at $10,000

Her trial is set for May.
