Standoff Suspect has History of Violence against Police

LOGAN, W.Va. -- A man who police say is responsible for a standoff lasting several hours remains in the hospital, and from there, he'll be taken straight to jail.

That man was Gregory Aldridge. His aunt, who lives next door, called 911 and said he was trying to break in and threatened to kill her.

When police showed up, they say he threatened to kill them and then ran inside his house.

According to documents at the Logan County Courthouse, Aldridge’s criminal past goes back to 1993.

This is the third time he's been accused of using violence against police -- once in 2010 and again the next year.

Aldridge faces a list of charges that include assault and battery on a police officer, domestic assault, attempted burglary, brandishing a deadly weapon, obstructing and cultivation of marijuana.
