Chapmanville parents facing child neglect charges

Two parents in Logan County are facing child neglect charges in connection with the death of their one-month-old baby boy.
West Virginia State Police arrested Timothy and Bessie Marcum Wednesday evening and charged them with child neglect resulting in death.
The baby died Tuesday morning at the family’s home in Chapmanville.
Authorities say Timothy had taken drugs and fell asleep while holding his baby boy. Once he woke up, he noticed the baby’s face was pressed against his chest and not breathing. He had been smothered and died.
According to police, Bessie was arrested because she was in the house at the time and knew Timothy was taking drugs.
Both have been taken to the South Western Regional Jail.
