{Rand, West Virginia}...Nineteen year old Brent Burdette of Campbell's Creek was arrested and charged with murder following a shooting just before 1:00 A.M. Thursday morning in the community of Rand. When Cpl. B.E. Borchers arrived on the scene, he found 21 year old William Cordle lying in a roadside ditch suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Cordle was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center where he died. Investigators later determined that some kind of argument had taken place between Cordle and Burdette. The criminal complaint alleges Burdette admitted to some people that he had shot Cordle because he was "running his mouth." Deputies have recovered what they believe to be the murder weapon.
