Milton Doctor Pleads Guilty

{Huntington, West Virginia}...A Milton doctor has pleaded guilty to violating federal drug control laws, fraud, forgery and subterfuge. Dr. Anita Dawson, 55, admitted that, from July 2006 until May 2009, she wrote prescriptions for about 6,220 Oxycodone and Endocet pills for an individual identified as  "E.B," aware that the patient was addicted. The board identified E.B. as Emma Brown, who, while under the influence of drugs, crashed her vehicle into one driven by 47 year old Carole Crawford, killing Crawford, her 16 year old daughter Meaghan and her 15 year old friend, Kelsey Kuhn. Brown pleaded guilty in February 2010 to driving under the influence causing death. The State Board of Osteopathy suspended Dawson's medical license in April 2010 after authorities searched her office. Dawson is believed to have caused or contributed to the deaths of 11 people. Dawson faces up to four years in prison and a $250,000 fine when sentenced October 29th.
