Man Pleads Guilty In Firefighter's Death

{Charleston, West Virginia}...Thirty-eight year old Charles Roberts pleaded guilty Friday in Kanawha County Circuit Court to third and fourth degree arson and involuntary manslaughter in the death of Davis Creek Volunteer Fire Department member Joey King. On December 3, 2011, Roberts was drinking with friends in the Alum Creek area when he had one of his friends stop by a pile of CSX railroad ties and Roberts set them on fire with a piece of cardboard and a tire. King and another firefighter responded to the fire call and both were looking over a bridge on U.S. Route 119 for the source of the fire when King fell to his death. Roberts was originally charged with felony murder. Roberts faces a maximum of six years in prison when sentenced August 28th.
