Energy Corporation of America headquarters to be built in Charleston

Denver-based Energy Corporation of America (ECA) is building a new eastern regional headquarters in Charleston.
“Currently we have a building, roughly 33,000 square feet, in Kanawha City. It’s been a great home for us for over 25 years and we’ve just ran out of space,” said ECA Chief Operating Officer Kyle Mork.
The company announced the details of the new 60,000 square foot facility to be built in the Northgate Business Park at Wednesday’s Municipal Planning Commission meeting in Charleston.
Currently, the privately-held, family-operated, oil and natural gas company has nearly 110 employees at its current location, but expect a future growth of nearly 100 percent in the coming years.
The new three-story office building is expected to facilitate the company’s continued expansion and be able to ultimately house 200 employees in Charleston.
Mork said Charleston is the perfect location for their headquarters.
Charleston has been a wonderful home for us, we love being here,” said Mork. “It’s been a great place to be and we don’t see any reason to go anywhere else so we are happy to recommit to Charleston with this new building.”
The company expects to break ground for the project sometime this summer and hopefully be able to move in by mid 2014.
This year marks the companies 50th anniversary and Mork told commission members that the construction of the new building is representative of their commitment to another 50 years.
ECA was founded in Glenville, WV in 1963 and has maintained it’s eastern headquarters in Charleston since 1987. The company owns and operates approximately 4,600 wells, 5,000 miles of pipeline, and 1 million acres in North America. ECA employs nearly 300 people total.
The Municipal Planning Commission unanimously approved the construction of the new office building.
