Crews Working To Restore Power
{Charleston, West Virginia}...Governor Earl Ray Tomblin and state Homeland Security Chief Jimmy Gianato say West Virginia residents should brace themselves for a long week. Governor Tomblin toured storm-damaged areas across West Virginia on Sunday, including in McDowell, Greenbrier, Raleigh and Fayette counties, and later issued a statement advising only essential state workers to report to their jobs on Monday. Appalachian Power spokeswoman Jeri Matheney said, as of 6:00 P.M. Sunday afternoon, 289,000 West Virginia customers lacked electricity. The company came out with some estimates on when power will be restored. It says Lincoln County by Tuesday night, Wayne County by Wednesday night with Fayette, Jackson, Logan, Mason, Mingo, Raleigh and Wyoming counties by Thursday night and Cabell, Kanawha, McDowell, Mercer, Putnam, Summers counties by Friday night. Appalachian Power says it may take until next Saturday to get all of Boone County, Clay County and the remote areas of Kanawha County back on. In an effort to help, Mardi Gras Casino has brought their food truck to the Nitro fire department to aid storm victims affected by Friday's storms and power outages.
