Deadly Police Chase In Bluefield

{Bluefield, West Virginia}...Around 11:45 P.M. Saturday night, a suspect who was in police custody at the Bluefield Police Department escaped, stole a police cruiser and led police on a short chase. The suspect exited the cruiser near the intersection of U.S. Route 460 and County Girl Road in Green Valley and fled on foot. Police caught up with the suspect, and, after a brief scuffle, the suspect managed to gain control of an officer's handgun. The suspect refused to hand over the gun, and the officer fatally shot him.
