California Man Sentenced

  • {Charleston, West Virginia}...Harry Marshall Rae of California has been sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty in January to an extortion-related felony involving then-acting Governor Earl Ray Tomblin. Rae admitted sending an e-mail demanding $50,000 from Tomblin or else he would release a video he said showed inhumane practices in the greyhound breeding industry to hurt Tomblin's campaign. Tomblin's family raises greyhounds. An earlier plea bargain agreement recommended Rae be sentenced to home confinement because of medical problems, but U.S. District Judge John Copenhaver ordered Rae to begin his sentence July 27th. Rae's six-month prison term will be followed by one-year supervised release.
