Sentencing Set In U.S. Marshal Shooting
{Elkins, West Virginia}...Sentencings are scheduled Thursday in Elkins for Sherry Smith, 49, her daughter Cassandra, 25, and her boyfriend, Anthony Lambert, 23. They have all pleaded guilty to charges that they lied to federal investigators who were looking for fugitive 50 year old Charles Smith, the man who shot and killed 24 year old Deputy U.S. Marshal Derek Hotsinpiller of Bridgeport on February 16, 2011. Federal authorities found Smith and went to the house on Central Street to execute a warrant. Smith was armed and shot and killed Hotsinpiller and injured another officer. Police returned fire, and Smith was also killed.
