Man Pleads Guilty To Manslaughter

{Charleston, West Virginia}...Donald Troy "Bub" Raines of Charleston pleaded guilty Wednesday morning to voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of 35 year old Jerry Baldwin of Sissonville which occurred outside Raines' house on Mary Street on November 15, 2011. Raines says Baldwin came to his house with Raines' former girlfriend and the two became involved in a heated dispute. Raines says he retrieved a gun his house and fired a warning shot from his 9mm handgun, but took aim after Baldwin continued to approach. Assistant Kanawha County prosecutor Dan Holstein says Raines fired four shots, hitting Baldwin first in the knee and then in the torso. Baldwin was taken to a hospital where he died. Holstein said Wednesday that evidence in the case would have shown that Raines started the altercation and went inside his house to retrieve the weapon. Raines faces 3 to 15 years in prison when sentenced in November.
