Man Pleads Guilty To Negligent Homicide

{Charleston, West Virginia}...Thomas Paul Sturm, 26, of Charleston, was set to go on trial Monday in Kanawha County, but a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death was dropped, under a plea agreement, after Sturm pleaded guilty to negligent homicide. Sturm was indicted in May in connection to a fatal September 2011 accident. Investigators say Sturm was traveling very slowly along Interstate 64 near Cross Lanes when Zachary Hudnall, of Scott Depot, crashed into him, and Hudnall's car was struck by a van driven by David Westover, 56, of South Charleston, which pushed Hudnall into the path of a vehicle driven by Mark Puryear, 45, of Louisa, Kentucy. Police say Sturm was hauling a truck on a trailer that had no lights. Sturm fled the scene after the accident. Hudnall died after being transported to a Charleston hospital. Sturm faces up to a year in jail when sentenced October 26th.
