Army deserter found in Kanawha County

A Charleston man wanted for deserting the Army has been taken into custody.

Deputies with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department found Matthew Jack Kirk, 35, staying at his parent’s home Monday evening.

Deputies had received a tip regarding Kirk’s whereabouts. He was taken into custody without incident.

Kirk is currently at the South Central Regional Jail awaiting a pick-up from Army Officials.
