Charges Upgraded In Cabell County Beating
{Huntington, West Virginia}...Thursday, the previously scheduled preliminary hearing in Cabell County Magistrate Court for 45 year old Edward Jesse Dreyfuse was pushed back to Wednesday, May 16th. Dreyfuse had originally been charged with malicious wounding and burglary following the April 9th beating of Otis Clay, Jr. of Huntington but Clay died at St. Mary's Medical Center, and charges against Dreyfuse were upgraded to first degree murder. Police say Dreyfuse beat Clay with an aluminum baseball bat at Clay's home on Washington Avenue, putting Clay in a coma. Preliminary autopsy results indicate Clay died of blunt force trauma to the head.
