Man Faces Federal Charges For Hurricane Bank Robbery

  • {West Virginia}...The FBI says Charles Asher, 51, of Nashville, Tennessee, is facing federal charges in the October 3rd robbery of the Hurricane, West Virginia branch of the BB&T Bank. Authorities say Asher entered the bank just after 3:00 P.M., showed a firearm and left with cash. He was found minutes later hiding near the restroom building at a rest area along Interstate 64 in Putnam County. Asher is being kept at the Western Regional Jail on state charges from the same robbery. He is expected to be taken into federal custody and make an initial appearance before a United States Magistrate judge in Huntington. If convicted, Asher faces up to 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both.
