- {West Virginia}...Harry Marshall Rae, 63, of Angels Camp, California, is scheduled to go on trial December 19th after pleading not guilty Tuesday during his arraignment in federal Magistrate Court in Charleston. Rae was arrested in September after federal investigators say he attempted to extort then Acting Governor Earl Ray Tomblin out of $50,000 by threatening to release a video showing inhumane acts against greyhounds at an Oklahoma kennel. Rae allegedly said the video could damage Tomblin's campaign, because Tomblin's brother and mother are greyhound breeders. Police say Rae alleged he made contact with the campaign of Tomblin's opponent, Republican businessman Bill Maloney, but Maloney's campaign denied any knowledge of him. Federal Magistrate Judge Mary Stanley set a new bond for Rae at $10,000 and ordered him to stay with his sister in California until his trial date.
