- {Elkhorn, West Virginia}...The Postal Service is reviewing more than 3,600 local offices, branches and stations around the country for possible closure, including 150 in West Virginia. The Elkhorn Post Office in McDowell County is closing its doors, effective November 5th. The Postal Service announced in March the Elkhorn Post Office was one of the rural post offices being looked at for closure.
