Pit Bull Attacks Two In McDowell County

{West Virginia}...West Virginia State Police say a little girl and her grandfather were  taken to Welch Community Hospital and then transferred to Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital with serious injuries after being attacked by a pit bull about 4:15 P.M. Sunday in the Welch area of McDowell County. Police say the dog dragged the little girl across the lawn and then turned on the grandfather as he tried to intercede. An off-duty McDowell sheriff's deputy, who lived nearby, shot and killed the dog. An employee at Mount View High School confirmed the grandfather's name is James Redmond, a teacher at the school.
