- {West Virginia}...Kanawha County Prosecutor Mark Plants held a news conference Wednesday to announce 41 year old Charlie Booker of St. Albans has been exonerated on two counts of first-degree murder in the August 6th deaths of 31 year old Joseph Miller and 31 year old Billy Dodd. Plants says three men, including Miller and Dodd, confronted Booker about someone speeding through the neighborhood earlier in the evening, and things got out of control. Plants said the evidence in the case showed Booker acted in self-defense. He says the assailants approached Booker. One had a hammer. One had an ASP. One had a pocket knife, but was pretending it was a gun. After being struck in the head with the metal rod, Booker pulled out a firearm and began shooting to protect himself and his wife and stepson who were nearby. Booker was arrested shortly after the shootings and remained behind bars for nearly a month before he posted $100,000 bond last month and was placed on home confinement.
