Activist Questioned Over Photo

{Washington, D.C.}...Maria Gunnoe of Bob White, West Virginia, a prominent mining activist, was invited to testify before the House Energy and Mineral Resources Subcommittee by Colorado Representative Doug Lamborn, a Republican who leads the panel. Gunnoe said she emailed a photo of a 5 year old unidentified child sitting in a bathtub of dirty water to the subcommittee Friday, just before her testimony. She planned to use the photo to illustrate her testimony on the potential for pollution from mountaintop removal mining, but, when she arrived for the hearing, subcommittee staff told her the photo was inappropriate and she couldn't use it. Gunnoe says that after her testimony, she was questioned for 45 minutes by Capitol Police. Lamborn says he did not recommend police be called and said it was a "senior committee staff decision."
