Man Pleads Guilty To Unlawful Wounding

Kenneth Woodson, 20, pleaded guilty Tuesday to two charges of unlawful wounding, admitting he used a baseball bat to strike Andrew Watson, 26, and 26 year old Jillian Hagelin who tried to stop a fight between Woodson and Watson. Woodson has been held at South Central Regional Jail in lieu of a $75,000 cash bond.  His court-appointed attorney, Zoe Shavers, told Kanawha Circuit Court Judge Tod Kaufman that Woodson has no money and requested a property bond with a condition of home confinement. Assistant Prosecutor Dan Holstein objected to the request for a lower bond and asked the judge instead to revoke Woodson's bond. The judge agreed. Woodson will be incarcerated until his sentencing. His father, Charles Woodson, 59, also faces charges of malicious wounding and attempted murder in the same incident. He has pleaded not guilty, and his trial has been postponed until July because of a conflict within the public defender's office with a witness. He is free on a $5,000 bond. Charles Woodson was found not guilty in October 2010 for the stabbing of his wife's boyfriend. His wife and two others were also injured in that attack in Rand.
