Bayer CropScience Lays Off Workers

{Institute, West Virginia}...Friday was the last day of work for 40 employees at the Bayer CropScience chemical plant at the Institute Industrial Park in Kanawha County. Bayer CropScience announced last year its plans to lay off 163 workers at the plant because it's no longer producing the chemical aldicarb, following an agreement with the federal EPA to stop making the product Temik. The company previously announced that by the end of the year it would employ less than 200 people at the Institute site.
