{Huntington, West Virginia}...Lamar Mallett, 21, form Detroit, has pleaded no contest to first-degree arson and causing injury during an arson-related crime. Police say, on April 10th, Mallett was seen leaving an apartment on 13th Street in Huntington with a TV and then getting into a taxi cab before the apartment was discovered to be on fire. Mallett took the taxi to Ashland where he purchased a Greyhound bus ticket. He was arrested a short time later at a motel on Winchester Avenue. The fire heavily damaged two apartment buildings and injured Huntington firefighter Ray Canafax, who suffered burns and a shoulder injury. Prosecutors are recommending a 15-year sentence when Mallett is sentenced in October.
