St. Albans Mayor's Raise Tabled

  • {St. Albans, West Virginia}...Tuesday, St. Albans City Council members tabled a 20-percent pay increase for Mayor Dick Callaway. The ordinance, which would have amended the salary, oath and duties of the mayor, had been scheduled for a second reading after council members gave initial approval to the ordinance at the December 19th meeting. The measure would increase Callaway's pay from $40,000 to $48,000 and would make him the manager of the Municipal Utility Commission and storm water board, a position which carries an additional salary of $24,000 per year. Callaway said the ordinance was not ready for final approval because the city's CPA firm has yet to review it. If passed, it would take effect July 1, 2013.
