{Huntington, West Virginia}...Nakiyan J. Harper, 31, of Huntington, has been sentenced to 37 months in prison after pleading guilty in February to being a felon in possession of a firearm. On June 8, 2010, police officers patrolling Artisan Avenue in Huntington approached Harper after receiving information that he was suspected of possessing a firearm. At the time police questioned Harper about the firearm, a struggle ensued and a loaded .40-caliber pistol fell from his waistband. Harper was convicted in March 1999 of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and crack cocaine and the use of a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking offense. Harper was on supervised release at the time of his arrest.
