Trial Set In Hit-And-Run Death

{Charleston, West Virginia}...Thomas Paul Sturm, 26, of Charleston, will face trial in September in the hit-and-run death of William Zachary Hudnall, 25, of Scott Depot. Hudnall was driving east on Interstate 64 near the Cross Lanes exit about 1:15 A.M. on September 19, 2011 when he crashed into a vehicle, causing a chain reaction. A cargo van driven by David Westover, 56, of South Charleston, struck Hudnall's car in the rear, sending it into the path of a car driven by Mark Puryear, 45, of Louisa, Kentucky. Hudnall was injured, and he died at Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital the next day. The vehicle struck by his car fled the scene. Sturm allegedly was driving a Ford F-350 pulling a car-hauler loaded with a large truck, but he didn't have lighting at all on the trailer. Sturm was charged with negligent homicide, leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death, leaving the scene of a crash resulting in property damage, obstruction and operating a vehicle with no taillights. Sturm was arraigned late last week.
