{Matewan, West Virginia}...An annual celebration took place this weekend in Mingo County as the Hatfield and McCoy families met for the thirteenth time in Matewan to challenge each other in good fun and celebrate their heritage. Mayor Sheila Kessler, a Hatfield descendant, said the History Channel's recent spotlight on the feud revived national attention and made this year special. Those with proven bloodlines fought in a tug-of-war match on the Tug River. The Hatfields competed on the West Virginia side of the water, and the McCoys stayed on the Kentucky side. The McCoys snagged a victory.
